I’m having a lazy, lazy Sunday for once. No classes today. I did my homework this morning, thought about doing laundry but realized I was out of laundry detergent, thought about going to the store to get some laundry detergent (and groceries), realized I would have to brush my hair, and decided it was too much work. So I made some scrambled eggs and spent a few hours doing nothing on my computer, deciding it was time I gave this blog a new look.

I learned some useful new Mandarin phrases this week (There should be accent marks but I can’t figure out how to add them here):

Ni you wo-de shouji ma?

Do you have my cell phone? (Left it at a restaurant. Fortunately the answer was yes.)

Ni you wo-de jie ji ka?

Do you have my debit card? (Unfortunately the answer was no. I think it may have gotten sucked into an ATM.)

Wo diushile wo-de jie ji ka. Wo xian zai xu yao yi zhang xin ka.

I lost my debit card. I need a new one. (I had fun trying to request this from the bank and was finally told I could pick it up on Thursday, but only if I brought a native Beijing citizen with me with their ID to vouch for me because my passport confused them and they could not tell if it was real. They find so many things confusing here.)

Zhou muo yu kuai!

Have a good weekend! (I managed to say this to the sweet old security guard by my school who always greets me and he got the biggest smile on his face.)

Little Red Hen class
We read the Little Red Hen yesterday and made some handprint hens and homemade cinnamon raisin bread.

Found a new restaurant/music venue in Eudora station, Lido district. Beautiful patio seating!
Eudora Station and park
Coconut mojitos are AWESOME. Everything here was delicious. Also found a little park nearby with these Olympic rings lit up. There was so much in this area that I didn’t know about!

Thought this little shrine was interesting. It was set up in a little corner of a park, and obviously frequented a lot.
